LOST 38-58 : 2 Points
After two weeks with no league 1 games it was nice to be back on the green on a lovely summer evening – unfortunately our good mood was not reflected in our bowling/the results!
On RKJ’s rink with Charlie, Jon and Will unfortunately they never really seemed to get going on what was a very fast green and ran out 6-28 ☹️
On Jim’s rink with Andy, Nigel and Keith. they made an excellent start going 8-0 up after 5 ends. Unfortunately the wheels then came off and losing the next five ends fell 8-10 behind. We were however still very much in it and picking up a two on end 14 meant the score was 11-12 so everything to play for. Unfortunately we then dropped a three on end fifteen and despite winning ends sixteen and seventeen ran out 13-15 which was very disappointing 😢
On Josh’s rink (should he really be bowling with the injury to his foot????) with Jake, Larry and Mark P they also went into an 8-0 lead (after four ends). Then went 8-10 behind after eight ends but picking up a six on end nine made all the difference and they ran out 19-15 winners 👏
With the league in a little bit of disarray with the various unplayed games everything is pretty close and in the second half of the season we need to make sure that we do not take our eyes off the ball 🏐 🎾 (do you see what I did there with the tennis and football currently on 😃)
Next week home to Olveston (not sure which one) but it would be nice to get back to winning ways 🏅
On an outside competition note, good luck to Jim on Monday evening when he will be playing in the Over 60’s Singles Gloucestershire section final 🤞
