Lost 41-48: 2 Points
Unfortunately the second half of the season is proving to be a lot less successful for us than the first half 😕
Knowle are a good tight knit team with a number of younger players, which is great to see 👏
At thirteen ends across the rinks the scores on the various rinks were 11-11, 11-11 and 9-9 so all to play for, but sadly it was Knowle who pushed forward from there.
On RKJ’s rink with Charlie, Jon and Larry, having been 6-10 down they rallied to 11-11 but then lost three ends to go 11-16. They did however win the last end to finish 13-16.
On Josh’s rink with Nick, Jake and Will it was nip and tuck at the start but picking up a 4 on end 14 the future looked bright! Unfortunately storm clouds then appeared as we dropped a 2, 5 and 2 on the last three ends giving a final score of 13-18.
Finally on Jim’s rink with the usual crew of Andy, Nigel and Keith despite Jim saying throughout the game that he couldn’t find a line some good bowling by the other three (and Jim towards the end) meant they went into the last end 2 up. There was a very remote possibility that Jim could have moved the jack to pick up a 6 and potentially tie the overall game but with the opposition skip having last bowl and the losses on the other two rinks securing the two points for a win on this rink was deemed to be the priority and that is what we achieved ending 15-14.
We potentially have three league games next week with the rearranged games for Willmott and Bristol on Tuesday and Wednesday and Page Park on Thursday. We really need as a minimum to aim for at least 14 points from these games 🤞
PS. Last week I forgot to mention that Trevor came up to GBBs for an hour to support us and it was great to see him up and around – I am sure we all wish him a continued recovery 👍💪
