CLUB COMPETITION RULES :

The competitions shall be open to all full members of the Club and shall be under the control of the Competition Committee. The Committee shall comprise the Men’s and Ladies’ Competition Secretaries and at least one other member.

The Committee shall decide:

1. The format of each competition, eg number of ends played or shots required; but with general regard to Bowls England Championship Rules.
2. The handicap to be allotted to each player in any Club Handicap Competition.
3.  The date of the Club Competition Finals Day, Men’s Triples Day, Rosebowl, June Silverthorn and the Open Triples (John Cornish Cup) competitions, shall be set at the start of the season and shown in the fixture lists.
4.  The last date all rounds in competitions shall be played before or on. Exceptional circumstances may allow the late playing of a match at the Competition Committee’s discretion. The Committee to agree a prompt revised date to play with the players at least one week before that date. All finals must be played in the season the competitions are played.
5.  The draw will be made on or before 1 May each year. Late entries may be included at a later date, if feasible.
Note: – Playing as a representative of the Club or County (but not for privately entered Tournaments) is normally considered to be a satisfactory reason for a request to extend the play-by date after the set date. Failure to meet the stipulated dates may result in disqualification of either one or both players, from that competition. Competitors who are unable to play on Finals Day are asked to withdraw from the Competition before the semi-finals, which must be completed one week before the Finals Day. In this case, the other finalist shall be awarded the competition. The two losing semi-finalists shall be invited to play for ‘runner-up’.
6. Where a finalist is in more than two finals, the extra final(s) may be played either before Finals Day or on the designated ‘overlap Finals Day’. These contingencies shall be agreed between the Competition Committee and the players, when appropriate.

RULES

1. The first named person(s) in each tie is the challenger and shall be responsible for all game arrangements. The challenger(s) must offer their opponent(s) three dates before the stipulated date to play. In singles, it is the responsibility of the challenger to provide a marker for the game. The opponent has a responsibility to remind the challenger to suggest dates within a reasonable time frame.
2. Competitors must be on the green no later than 30 minutes after the mutually agreed time, otherwise those present may claim the match.
Note: Arranged matches may only be cancelled by mutual arrangement, subject to the ‘Special Circumstances’ conditions below.
3. The Competitions Secretary may nominate a substitute if the original competitor withdraws from the competition, but this may only be permitted before the first round of the competition is played.
4. If a competition has not been played within the designated time, the challenger has complied with the requirement in (1) above and no appeal has been made for an extension, the Competition Secretary will automatically enter the challenger to go forward to the next round.

Special Circumstances:
By agreement with the Men’s or Ladies Competition Secretary, dates for completion of each round may be extended by a maximum of 14 days when the following criteria applies: –
